An incremental finite element model is proposed to evaluate the behaviour of concrete short columns with a square section, confined with composite materials and subjected to uniaxial loading. In this approach, concrete is modelled as an elastic-perfectly plastic material, whereas composites are assumed to be linearly elastic until failure. Theoretical stress-strain curves are compared with experimental curves of some specimens tested in our laboratory. These experimental results come from a series of tests on concrete columns wrapped with unidirectional carbon fibre sheets.
