Improved methods for inter-relating equivalent circuits and frequency-response data for synchronous machines

The authors look at the mathematical modelling of the transient behaviour of turbogenerators from static small-signal measurements of frequency response characteristics. Fitting 2-axis equivalent circuits to measured data is discussed and attention is focussed on the d-axis. Arguments are advanced to show that established methods of fitting are open to criticism in a number of respects.
