SEX ATTRACTANT OF THE YELLOW MEALWORM, Tenebrio molitor L., AND ITS ROLE FOR THE MATTING BEHAVIOR

The yellow mealworm, Tenebrio molitor L., is a stored produce insect. Several types of pheromones were proposed by different authors. There have been some contradictory results and no pheromone has been isolated and identified. The present work describes the isolation and identification of a pheromone and its role for the mating behavior.
