In recent years, the construction of multimodal transportation system in China with railway transportation as the main mode of transportation has been encouraged and supported by relevant departments. In order to evaluate the comprehensive capacity of multimodal transportation in China's major ports under the background of railway, firstly, the evaluation index system for comprehensive capacity of multimodal transportation based on railway transportation was established from four aspects: collection and distribution environment, intermodal capacity, operational performance and sustainability. Secondly, a combined weighting method combining the AHP and the information entropy method was used to establish a correlation evaluation model to achieve accurate quantification of the evaluation results. Finally, the evaluation index system and model established are used to evaluate the comprehensive capacity of multimodal transportation in major ports of China. The results show that the ranking of port comprehensive capacity is in line with the actual situation, which shows that it is reasonable to use the combined weighting method to evaluate the comprehensive capacity of China's port multimodal transportation under the background of railway, which provides a certain reference for the development of China's port multimodal transport comprehensive capacity.
