This paper provides first results of the investigation of a modular, black box framework for domain deocomposition with regards to the definition of a reliable stopping criterion. The considered framework is based on the surface equivalence principle allowing for the black box approach. But, this in turn leads to the problem of finding an appropriate indicator for the errors in the quantities of interest, which typically are defined locally in the subdomains and are not directly available at the abstract level of the framework itself. First results of a stopping criterion based upon the residual are presented.
