Wastewater irrigation is common practice in many parts of the world. Best managementpractices (BMPs) for the wastewater irrigation are needed to contribute to a healthieragricultural environment and assure agricultural productivity. There are several types ofwastewater reuse for agriculture around the world, and an explicit classifi cation is essentialprior to provide the proper management plan for the specifi c type. The objective of this studywas to classify the type of agricultural wastewater reuse clearly. The criteria upon which thedefi ning of wastewater reuse type is based are following three: (i) Dilution of wastewater withfreshwater; (ii) Planning of wastewater reuse; and (iii) Treatment condition of wastewater.The wastewater reuse for agriculture was classifi ed into seven types using the three criteria.This study also gave characteristic descriptions and some examples for the each type. Theproposed classifi cation might contribute to better understanding for agricultural wastewaterreuse and help decision maker to provide the optimal management plans.
