Suitability Study on Using Rowen's Model for Dry-Low Emission Gas Turbine Operational Performance

A stringent requirement of government policy on Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions leads to the introduction of dry-low emission (DLE) gas turbines. Although Rowen's model is well established for a gas turbine dynamic study, its utilization for a DLE representation has not been extensively studied. Thus, the objective of this research is to study the suitability of using the Rowen's Model for the DLE gas turbine operational performance. All the available actual operation parameters were correlated to measure its dependency and only Rowen's parameters were selected. The operational data were used to calculate Rowen's block and the proposed model was assessed using a series of inlet guide vane and gas fuel flow command, a temperature setpoint and the actual speed data as an input. The behavior of the output; power, average turbine temperature and gas engine fuel flow were analyzed. Indeed, Rowen's model is capable to produce a good fit and high accuracy model for DLE gas turbine operational behavior.
