Definition of Fomi (Guinea) dam reservoir water management in accordance with downstream environmental impacts

The Niger Basin Authority (NBA - Autorité du Bassin du Niger - ABN) has drawn up a sustainable-development action plan (SDAP) for the Niger River basin with a view to achieving integrated water-resources management. Detailed studies of the major water-resources projects included in the plan were the responsibility of each member state.The proposed projects include the Fomi dam scheme, a multipurpose project on the river's headwaters, in Guinea. By regulating flow it will help attain the objectives of the SDAP throughout the Niger River basin.
