In-vehicle devices for pedestrian detection and collision avoidance are gradually attracted attention. The existing in-vehicle pedestrian detection devices (radar, infrared, camera, and so on) can only detect obstacles within a certain vision, which can't meet the requirement of high-speed environment application. In addition, the existing in-vehicle devices can't used for pedestrian collision avoidance in complex intersections and for pedestrian covered by in front vehicles. Based on the Cooperative Vehicle Infrastructure System (CVIS) technology, Vehicles and roadside equipments can share pedestrian detection information. In this paper, pedestrian detection and collision avoidance system framework is designed based on CVIS technology. In this system, vehicle and roadside equipment can detect pedestrian separately based on pedestrian detection algorithm. The integrated system can collect multi-source pedestrian information, implement data fusion and match all information in on map. By data fusion, the processor can identify the risk of pedestrian collisions with vehicles. Through this framework realization, it can expand the detection range of pedestrian to vehicles and improve detection accuracy.
