Inquiry-based Learning of Astronomy with WWT

摘要

Worldwide Telescope (WWT) is software that functions as a virtual telescope, bringing together imagery from the best ground and space-bused telescopes.It is based on the idea of Virtual Observatory (VO).In the paper, the basic functions of WWT have been introduced.According to the need of inquiry-based learning of astronomy, the reasons why WWT is a good teaching tool for astronomy education are analyzed. The details of WWT-based teaching process in Central China Normal University are given out.The advantages of inquiry-based learning of astronomy are summarized to help the development of astronomy education.
