In order to prevent contamination of particulate matter in indoor environments, the control of the transmission of particles from outdoors to indoors through ventilators is important and the application of vertical ventilator is one of the effective methods to prevent the penetration of particulate mattes from outdoors. In this paper, we demonstrate the particle movement in vertical ventilator by using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) method and report the validation results of CFD simulation by PIV results. Through the validated air flow pattern, the particle tracking by Lagrangian method was implemented to perform particle behavior inside this vertical duct under various boundary conditions.
