摘要

The phenomenon of classroom silence exists commonly in College English class in universities and colleges of engineering. To some extent, it hindered the normal teaching of College English classroom. Recitation input, which was once appreciated by English language educators and learners, can overcome student''s anxiety and mother-tongue interference in the course of College English learning, and enhance student''s sense of English language and learning self-confidence, so that students will have better acquisition of the target language to improve English communicative competence. This paper presents some suggestions on how to apply the approach of recitation input to avoid the phenomenon of student''s keeping silence in the class effectively and expect that this "old" approach can shine with new vitality in College English teaching.
