Colossal improvement in computer performance and memory has made possible wide-ranging numerical studies in various energy systems and industrial processes. This paper reviews the NTU's progress on computational modelling of multiphase transport phenomena in energy related engineering. Based on the numerical methodologies and procedures developed, the transport phenomena in the vicinity of a gas-liquid interface in two-phase flow systems and chemical reactors are studied and simulated. The numerical studies are at two stages; one is an external flow model approach, the other is concerned with a conjugate flow model; the effects of external forces, such as electric fields, on fluid flow and heat transfer are also under investigation.
