摘要

Rubber-modified epoxy adhesive has been attracted special interest due to its high toughness. The important toughening mechanism of the adhesive is the cavitation of rubber particles and generation of a damage zone in the vicinity of the crack tip. Hence, evaluating strength of lubber-modified epoxy adhesives. Recently, the damage behavior of rubber-modified epoxy resins or adhesive joints has been investigated under static loading. However, there are few studies about the fatigue behavior of the rubber-modified epoxy adhesive discussed form the viewpoint of damage behavior. In this study, the damage behavior of the adhesively bonded butt joint under cyclic loading has been studied using two kinds of rubber-modified adhesives. The strain of the adhesive layer was monitored by using strain gages pasted on the adhesive layer. Based on the stress-strain response, damage behavior of the adhesive layer under cyclic loading was discussed.
