Geolocation From Received Signal Strength

Radio frequency transmitter geolocation has been addressed by many techniques. The approach presented in this paper uses received signal strength measurements to estimate transmitter locations, which can be obtained with relatively simple hardware. Several algorithms are described that do received signal strength-based geolocation and are tested on real-world data. The data is collected from non-ideal environments using a cellphone paired with a software-defined radio.
