Ash Street Bridge: Replacing a Historic Welded Steel Rigid Frame Bridge

The Ash Street Bridge over 1-93 was the first known use of welded steel rigid frames in the USA on the primary road system. Though in good condition, the bridge needed to be replaced due to the widening of Interstate 93. The replacement bridge is a 2-span continuous steel frame structure. The bend radius of the central pier steel frame leg matches the radius of the transitions on the existing structure.
