The automotive industry is in the midst of change, which is caused mainly by the international climate protection targets. With the increasing number of electric vehicles, the charging infrastructure has to be fundamentally adjusted. Due to the changing loads on the electricity network, the scarcity of available places for charging stations and a major investment at the beginning of the overall installation, a planning and an optimized distribution of such wireless charging stations are indispensable and more than justified. This paper presents a study discussing the necessary measures and distribution optimization plan of wireless charging systems in an urban environment. This is done considering the economical aspects. The study considers a hypothetical scenario being that 80% of the vehicles are actually electric. Therefore, we use the geographical distribution of the existing fuel stations as a start point for our infrastructure optimization. The focus is to develop a well-networked infrastructure for wireless charging systems with lowest possible costs.
