Bioactive Ovarian Hydrogels Provide a Novel Biomaterial for In Vitro Follicle Maturation

Our results indicate that OECM hydrogels support follicle growth for at least six days in culture. These findings suggest that this novel biomaterial could be used for IVM to obtain mature oocytes for fertilization and could also be utilized as a delivery vehicle for follicle transplant. Advantageous characteristics, such as tunable mechanical properties, degradability, inherent bioactivity, and thermosensitivity make OECM hydrogels an attractive biomaterial for several fertility preservation applications.
