This paper addresses a practical problem of transport infrastructure maintenance and preservation. The bus rapid transit system (BRT) of Xiamen City is the sole viaduct-based BRT system in China. It consists of exclusive lanes with complete property right and uses continuous viaduct bridges. As a result, the maintenance of the BRT bridges for Xiamen BRT is essential for its safe operation. In this paper, the real-time bridge bearing capacity of a representative bridge of Xiamen BRT is simulated and calculated using finite element analysis model. The influence lines of the shear and bending moments, and the deflection influence lines of the detected nodes, are analyzed. These influence lines can not only calculate the design value of automobile loads and the internal force value of related sections of BRT but also provide the strain and deflection of the relevant points to ensure a safe BRT vehicle operation environment.
