摘要

In this talk I will present some of our recent work on exploiting (neuro) physiological signals as a source of information about individuals' cognitive and affective state. Potentially, such a continuous stream of information that can be obtained without distracting the individual, and without having to rely on verbal reports, is valuable in a wide range of applications. However, researchers in the field face some recurring challenges: (1) no simple mapping between physiology and mental state - issues of generalization (2) effects of body movement on physiology (3) estimates of mental state are imperfect - (how) can their benefit outweigh the costs? I will discuss our research along the lines of these challenges and how we tried to deal with them.
