Characteristics of laser power receiver (LPR) for space and Earth applications of wireless power transfer (WPT) systems are considered. LPR design and circuit diagram in consideration of measured power density distribution of laser beam are discussed. Laser beams with wavelength of ~0.8 and ~1.1 μm are formed by optical system that allows a laser beam position to be changed with high accuracy but changing at the same time the beam distortion. Aberrations change power density distribution of laser spot on LPR surface. Experimental research of LPR illumination by laser beams on the distances from 0.1 to 1.5 km is described. Influence of atmospheric turbulence on power density distribution within laser spot is discussed.
