摘要

This paper describes the design, construction, test and operation of a 125 mm pole face capsule IGBT device, which has been used in a 3-level neutral-point-clamped (NPC) inverter, based variable speed drive. The reliability of the power electronics must be improved, as it is an essential component of the ships propulsion system. Additional stress is exerted on the devices due to the operating conditions, where full torque is often applied to the motor in unfavourable environments; hence an improved power electronic water-cooled assembly has been designed, constructed and tested. It has proven its capability and wider operational field when applied to marines ship.
