In the present investigation the corrosion behavior of dissimilar A6063 and A319 caste alloy plates joined by friction stir welding (FSW) was evaluated. The effect of tool rotation and welding speeds as well as post weld heat treatment (PWHT) on the corrosion behavior were investigated. Plates of A6063 and A319 were friction stir welding used in three different rotation speeds (typically 1200, 1000 and 800 rpm) and welding speeds (typically 60 mm per minute). The PWHT was carried out using a solution heat treatment temperature of 540°C for 12 hours followed by ageing at 155°C for 6 hours. The results showed better corrosion resistance than A6063 and A319 base alloys. The corrosion distance of welded zones founded to be reduced by increasing the tool by rotational speed and reduction welding speed.
