THE CASIC SPACE EDUCATION PROGRAM: TO LIGHTEN THE DREAM OF OUTER SPACE FOR JUVENILE

The innovation of space technology has created plentiful miracles and brought benefits to our daily life. The mysteries of space has developed a feeling of curiosity, stimulating people's interest, and space exploration awakens our adventurous spirit. These years, we have seen many young faces joined our group. In the future, we have no doubt that young people will become the backbone of space construction, thus, the space education for youth has become very crucial for our nation. In support of the Space Science Workshop at a local Beijing elementary school, we established the "To Lighten the Dream of Outer Space For Juvenile" program in 2009. For the past three years, our program has motivated students to think widely about the outlook of future space and how the future of space technology would be through interactive classroom lectures and activities, their illustrative perspective reflects students' future aspirations for space exploration. Our program is also a pathway into space science resources for educators. We have developed these resources through funding of the NGO and CASIC groups, our instructors can ensure the content is accurate and useful in an educational setting after peer-review process. To date, this initiative has grown to more than 300 members and volunteers, organizing and conducting over 100 lectures on topics of space science, astronauts, planetary exploration, etc. Through these activities, our students expressed their expectation that our nation can put more efforts to strengthen similar space educational programs for the next generation in some other places as well. After all, there are a lot to leam from space. Our goal is to use the space program for children to cultivate desire for learning, arousing their passion about space science and many other subjects.
