The study discusses the results of the survey undertaken to identify the portfolio goals, constraints, macroeconomic factors, equity selection and its relationship with investor's demographics. A survey of 512 respondents collected from north India during 2009-11 has been analysed using percentage analysis and meanstandard deviation analysis. The results of the study are useful in understanding the psychology of Indian investors in detail and highlighting the significance of interdependencies in portfolio decisions. A review of innovative investment ideas making sense for portfolio investment has been discussed in the end. The paper also discusses Small and Medium Business (SMB) Innovation, Financing and Investment of SMB, Government Support Policies and SMB, Hightech SMB and Venture Capital, SMB Entrepreneurship, E-business for SMB, SMB Growth and Employment and other important issues related to SMB.
