As the continuous development of large business centers in China, the parking gap between demand and supply is increasing. The construction of new parking lots is often considered an important way to supplement this gap. The construction of parking lots themselves may change the original distribution of parking demand and attract more vehicles. This paper, using data from main parking lots around the Wujiaochang business district in Shanghai Yangpu District, describes the status of parking demand characteristics and compares the parking characteristics before and after the opening of Hopson International Plaza's free parking lot. The influence degree and scope on parking demand in this area has also been analyzed. Finally, this paper provides suggestions for future parking policies which may serve as a reference point when formulating new parking strategies for future large commercial centers.
