摘要

There is a variety of passenger transport facilities to choose from when designing a passenger traffic distribution hub with large amount of transfers among various modes of transportation. To provide a "seamless" transfer experience for passengers, this paper proposes a minimum-distance design approach. This approach makes use of sorting graphic and simplified formula method, and chooses the design that minimizes the total transfer distance (defined as number of transfers times average transfer distance) and the total transfer distance of intensive transportation mode (defined as number of transfers of intensive modes times average transfer distance between intensive transport modes). A case study of Zhenjiang to Shanghai High Speed Rail Station demonstrates how sorting graphic and simplified formula method is applied to obtain the optimal layout design.
