Unlike conventional power sources, nuclear power plants (NPPs) have unique requirements and have stringent voltage and frequency limitations that must be fulfilled to ensure its safe and efficient operation. These requirements must be considered to construct and operate an NPP in a safe, secure and technically sound manner. As a country still dependent on fossil-fuel based power generation, the introduction and development of Rooppur NPP into the Bangladesh power system (BPS) is a major undertaking. This paper attempts to briefly summarize the important technical issues that will arise with the integration of Rooppur NPP into BPS including various operational and safety constraints.
