The fused forsterite castables (FFC) were prepared by using fused forsterite (FF),fused magnesia (FM) as starting materials, and microsilica as binder.Effects of different microsilica content on the physical properties of fused forsterite castables were investigated. The microstructure and phase composition of the specimens were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD),scanning electron microscope (SEM),and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX).The results showed that, the density and mechanical behavior of FFC samples were both increased with the increasing of microsilica, the thermal shock resistance of the FFC samples was not good, and some big porosities and low melting phases were traced in the microstructure of FFC specimens.
