Introduction Refractory castables are hydratable and / or ceramically hardened materials withstanding temperatures in the upper 1000 °C range in contact with molten metals or slag.Improving the properties of castable mixes for refractory applications is an iterative process.It starts with choosing raw material combinations according to the application requirement,adding a binder system,water and chemical additives for processing.
