As raw materials for cement become more complex,refractories are required with higher performance to meet harsh service condition in the decomposition system of dry process cement production.Silicon carbide,waste ceramics,bauxite,calcium aluminate cement and silica fume were adopted as raw materials to prepare castables for the decomposition system of cement kiln.The effect of SiC addition at 15%,30% and 50% respectively on anti-coating ability,alkali resistance and cold strength was investigated.Anti-coating and alkali resistance of the castables can be improved by SiC incorporation,nevertheless the flowability decreases somewhat.The three kinds of castables containing the three levels of SiC can meet the required properties for the said use.
