Carbon Composite Bricks—a New Generation of Ceramic Cup Material for Blast Furnace

The service life of refractories in the lower zone of blast furnace,especially in the bottom,hearth and tuyere,is vital to the campaign life of blast furnace.This paper describes the structures of both heat-dissipating type and heat-insulating type of furnace bottom and hearth,and introduces the study of carbon composite bricks for blast furnace.The application of the carbon composite bricks in blast furnace shows that this is a new generation of ceramic cup material,which combines the advantages of excellent erosion-resistance of oxides bricks and high thermal conductivity of carbon bricks.
