Normally sintering one metric ton of silica alumina refractory bricks consumes 300-400 kg standard coal.If using refractory concrete (now referred as refractory castable) replacing fired brick,at least 200 kg,coal per ton refractory can be saved and 587 kg CO2 ※ emission can be reduced.Amount of calcium aluminate cement (CAC) used in traditional refractory castables is 15%-20%,calculated basing on 15%,each ton of castable made with CAC can replace 6.67 tons of refractory bricks,saving 1 334 kg standard coal and reducing CO2 emission by 3.92 tons.Low cement refractory castables just need 2%-6% CAC,calculated basing on 5%,each ton high performance calcium aluminate cement mixed castables will:replace 20 tons of refractory bricks; save 4 000 kg standard coal; reduce 11.74 tons of CO2 emission.Development of low and ultra-low cement castables promotes the CAC technology progress.High property CACs such as CA50-G8,CA50-G9,CA50-G10,CA50-N,CA50-fused can be successfully used for producing high strength,wear resistant castables with service temperature of 1 000-1 300 °C Research and development of pure calcium aluminate cement NA70 contributes to technology progress of high temperature refractory castables with service temperature over 1 600 °C.
