Effective problem solving with subsequent knowledge capture is important in today's complex business environment. This study models the dynamics of knowledge creation in an engineering context and illustrates engineering epistemology with ba that facilitates superior problem resolution. Rich narratives from phenomenological interviews with engineers were interpreted using Nonaka's knowledge-creation and Weick's sensemaking models. Our study highlights the social aspects of engineering problem solving that firms can optimize for higher organizational learning.
