Lean is applicable in a wide variety of sectors. However, the success of lean is not uniformly realized. One failure factor may be the misalignment of specific lean practices with the firm's operating context (e.g., manufacturing or service). This study investigates the implementation success factors of lean in manufacturing and service firms. Differences in the clusters of lean practices are suggested to exist based on the product-process matrix and service process matrix.
