摘要

Polymerization of PPTA (poly (p-phenylene terephthalamide)) is a rapid process even at low temperature, which makes the molecular weight distribution of PPTA wider. In this article, a new method is firstly employed in order to narrow the molecular weight distribution by adding a non-solvent, n-hexane, to the reaction system. The reaction time was then apparently extended, and the time when PPTA precipitated from the solvent was delayed. Both of those two effects finally result in a higher molecular weight and narrower molecular weight distribution.
