摘要

The use of self-registration using optical strobe tracers on direct and indirect fire weapons, could improve present ballistic fire control systems that use different sensors to feed data into that fire control computer. Most of the fire control system lacks of feedback information from the projectile in flight. This paper presents an analysis about the use of a new technology of optical strobe tracer in automatic firing weapons such as Automatic Grenade Launchers (AGL) and mortar projectiles and the potential of such technology to improve ballistic solutions to fire control system using data from the projectile while it is in flight, using optical sensor at the weapon location. Estimates of the potential reduction of the CEP (using the self registration), reduced ammunition consumption to defeat a target (know range), reduced time to defeat a target and improvement of the lethality, are presented.
