Extraction and Characterization of Bioactive Factors from Human Amniotic Membrane forOcular Delivery and Corneal Tissue Engineering

摘要

Human amniotic membrane (AM) is the innermostlayer of the fetal membrane that has many effective andbeneficial factors. These factors can promotes cornealepithelial healing, reduces scarring, suppressesinflammation, and inhibits angiogenesis. Therefore AMtransplantation is used in ocular surface defects. But AMtransplantation has some limitations. Thus extraction andpurification of these beneficial factors and preparation ofmucoadhesive nanoparticles (like chitosan) from them canbe very useful in ocular delivery, corneal tissueengineering and increasing the biocompatibility ofartificial corneas.
