Trust in Organizational Relationship and Its Delineation

In the construction industry,the relationship between contracting parties is often described as adversarial.Moreover,it is believed that developing trust among them can help to achieve cooperative inter-organizational relationship.Trust is considered as the glue to enhance relationship.Previous studies suggest that germination of trust is closely related to uncertainty and risk.The development of trust is further affected by the willingness,expectation,confidence,belief and behavior of the parties involved.In this paper,the impacts of trust on inter-organizational relationship are firstly discussed.The underpinnings of trust are then elaborated by the description of a modelproposing the evolution of trusting relationship between clients and contractors within the construction industry.
