RECYCLING OF PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS - AIMS AND ROADS

While the R&D of new photovoltaic systems realises significant progress in the field of specific panel efficiency, technical life time and production cost, only few efforts in recycling of photovoltaic systems have taken place so far. Experts in practical recycling processing from the Fraunhofer ICT, environmental and LCE specialists from IKP University of Stuttgart and economy researchers from IIP, University of Karlsruhe are co-operating in the centre for sustainable products and processes, "LOOP," to ensure a reasonable design of future recycling processes. For the various types of solar cells resp. whole photovoltaic systems, specific recycling processes are developed and evaluated from technical, environmental and economic point of view.
