Conflicts in a collaborative design environment may result in inconsistency or deadlock. the paper discusses a semantic concurrency control on a higher level that sets locks on semantics, so as to meet the demands of the semantic collaboration. Considering the semantic characteristics between a global design forum and some local design forums, the paper proposes a nested transaction and compensating techniques. Furthermore in the database level, a lock mechanism is set up on operatons of an interoperable object query language.
