Many of the changes seen occurring in the New Zealand Dairy Industry and those in place at Kiwi Co-operative Dairies are occurring in other industries also. What makes the dairy industry unique is the seasonal requirements of its primary producers. Where seasonal schedules must be met the reliance on machinery to cope with ever increasing demands is crucial. Costs in keeping the plants operating are under constant pressure to be reduced. Eliminating unnecessary work and unscheduled maintenance is fast becoming a fact of life. Through preventative maintenance using condition monitoring as a tool these facts of life are achievable.
