The complexity of the flow around a wheel has been shown experimentally by many researchers. Flow characteristics and aerodynamic coefficients have been shown to change singificantly with the introduction of wheel rotation, ground clearance, exposure and yaw angle to oncoming flow, vehicle shell configuration and the insertion volume into the wheel well.
