Due to increasing global competition, and the demand for improved product quality, the acceptable size and form tolerances for machined parts are continuously tightening. Wit hthe advancement of microprocessro control capabilities and software techniques, recent years have seen dramatic refinements in machine error characterization and compensation methods. In the production environmetn it is very improtant, sometimes even critical, to minimize measurement time on the machine, so that it is affordable for machine owners to conduct the measurements.
