Tri-Met selected low-floor LRVs as the technology for implementing the ADA regulations as part of their Westside extension to the 10 year old MAX LRT system. As a result of this decision, it became necessary to modify the existing maintenance facility, Ruby Junction, to accommodate both the Type 1 (high-floor) and Type 2(low-floor) LRVs. Design criteria for future facilities was also changed and the resulting requirements have now been implemented at the new Elmonica facility as part of the Westside Project.
