Honeywell businesses UOP and Honeywell Aerospace are partnering with Airbus, JetBlue Airways and International Aero Engines to study sustainable biofuel use for commercial aircraft. They will focus on developing and testing technology to convert biofeedstocks into suitable fuels, looking in particular at 'second generation' sources such as algae. A white paper published by Innovision Research & Technology on the future of RFID says applications for active and semi-active products will fall into four broad categories: sensing, transport and logistics, asset tracking and access control. China has set up a new civil aircraft manufacturing company. Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China will research, develop and manufacture large jets for a market that is currently dominated by Boeing and Airbus. CACC president Jin Zhuanglong told China Daily that the firm will be open to international collaboration and will purchase engines and other parts from foreign suppliers.
