Metal-containing polymers combining the merits of metal complex tunability and polymer processability were used in different fields such as OLED, solar cell. In this article, a series of conjugated polymers containing ruthenium complexes in the side chain via a flexible chain was reported. The conjugated polymers (PM1PT-x) were prepared via Suzuki polycondensation between di-bromide M1, M2 and diboranate M3, where x represent the molar percent of M1 among the feed-in dibromo-monomers. The conjugated polymers containing Ru-complexes PM1PT-x-Ru were prepared by complexing PM1PT-x with small molecules Ru-complex. PMlPT-x showed good solubility in common solvent such as THF, CHCl_3. Their temperature of 5% weight loss (T_(5%)) was in the range of 317-356 ℃. After the bipyridine units formed Ru-complex, the solubility and thermal stability of corresponding PM1PT-x-Ru decreased. PM1PT-100-Ru films showed a broad absorption peak centered at 526 nm with the FWHM of 163 nm. Therefore, PM1PT-x-Ru could be used as photosensitive materials for solar cell.
