In this paper, compression test was carried out with specimens of concrete, RC, CFT (concrete filled steel tubular structures) and RCFT (reinforced concrete filled steel tubular structures). The main parameters adopted were strength of concrete, width-thickness ratio and arrangement of reinforcing bars. According to the experimental results, the effect of parameters on mechanical characteristics of RCFT was analyzed; the advantage of RCFT over CFT was presented in this study. As a result, it was understood that strength, rigidity and ductility of RCFT were improved; especially strength and ductility were improved after the peak of load—displacement curve as compared with CFT.
