The significance of these evolutionary changes is that different organizational perspectives are necessary, but multiple perspectives come at certain costs. Communication among the organizations and with utilities and researchers is paramount as the various roles and focal points continue to evolve. Toward that end, this paper has discussed several issues or changes that are being undertaken by the industry, to provide a starting perspective for people seeking one or more contacts to conduct research, or for individuals seeking to understand what additional or future research might be necessary or possible. The challenge of obtaining a complete view of the industry's perspectives on particular issues can be met; INPO, NEI, and EPRI together maintain liaison at various levels, points of contact for issues in the other organizations are generally shared on request, and as the communities of practice are formed, a list of points of contact is maintained and updated approximately annually. These simple tools and the will to communicate, to ask for other perspectives, will help all participants remain coordinated as these evolving roles go into effect.
