The aim of this paper was the suitability of evaluation of bacterial leaching applied on the coal sample from the mine Lupeni from Romania. The results of this work show that using clean cultures of Thiobacillus ferrooxidans is in that case very good if we evaluate desulphurization from the point of view of pyrite sulphur, which, after one month of leaching is almost gone from the sample contains much organic sulphur which is produced by bacteria Thiobacillus ferrooxidans degraded only a little. Total desulphurization of coal is about 63percent. Perfect adaptability of the Thiobacillus ferrooxidans bacteria on pyrite in coal is proved by this work and it is suggested as one of the possibilities of bacteria use in mineral processing.
